Visiting a new optometrist should feel easy and stress-free—and at Vivid Eyecare in Brampton, we make sure that’s exactly what happens.
Whether it’s your first eye exam or you’re switching clinics, here’s everything you need to know about booking your appointment and navigating insurance coverage.
Booking Your Appointment Made Simple
When you call to schedule your first appointment, our friendly front desk staff will walk you through the basics. We’ll ask a few questions to confirm your insurance and gather essential details, including whether you’re the primary or secondary member on your plan.
You’ll also receive information about what to bring, how long your appointment will take, and any optional tests that might be available based on your needs.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
To keep your appointment smooth and efficient, make sure to bring:
- Your insurance card
- A piece of government-issued ID
- Any current glasses or contact lenses
- A list of medications or health conditions, if applicable
If you have your insurance provider’s mobile app, we recommend downloading it prior to your visit—this helps us check your coverage on the spot.
Direct Billing for Most Insurance Plans
At Vivid Eyecare, we handle direct billing through most major insurance providers, including:
- Sun Life
- Manulife
- Desjardins
- And more, through the Telus Health platform
Once we receive your insurance information, we verify your eligibility and bill your provider directly for eye exams, prescription glasses, or contact lenses. If there’s any portion not covered by your plan, we’ll let you know in advance.
On the Day of Your Visit: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Check-In at the Front Desk
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted and asked to confirm your appointment. You’ll then complete a consent form and confirm important details like your address, date of birth, and insurance information.
Pre-Testing
Before seeing the doctor, you’ll undergo pre-tests that include:
- Auto-refraction to assess your vision
- Eye pressure testing
- Optional scans like OCT, macula and glaucoma imaging (additional fees may apply)
Comprehensive Eye Exam
After pre-testing, the optometrist will conduct a thorough eye exam. If needed, further assessments like a visual field test or macula scan may be recommended.
How Long Will the Appointment Take?
We understand your time is valuable. Most appointments take about 30–45 minutes, but we suggest allowing up to one hour if you're a senior or if additional testing is anticipated.

Our goal at Vivid Eyecare is to make your experience seamless from start to finish. By offering direct insurance billing and a clear, organized appointment process, we help you focus on what matters most—your vision and health.
